The orkut journey - Part II

In this blog, I am going to talk on how my life has changed after spending a year on orkut. I am not the same person a I used to be over an year back. Good or bad? Lets find it out...

First of all let me tell you what type of person I was an year back. I was an atheist, an impatient person when it came to listening things, never could read anything that was long to me. Was never interested in religion. Never abusive, a medium sense of humour and blah blah....

On orkut, I have been active mainly in India community and the India (moderated) community. There are couple of other communities I have been active but it didn't bring any change to me so I am not mentioning them. In the very beginning I was active in India community. That time it was a nice place, with very few disturbances. The 1s month was full of fun, went on chatting and rarely taking part in serious topics.

After a month or so, religious fanatics came in, I started to hijack those threads, I was kinda peace loving person and couldn't see people bashing one another and abusing on the basis of religion. While doing this, I used to read some of the posts and I did came to know more about religion..... ahhhhh...... all the wrong interpretations of people..... my bad. Later I did look into authentic sources and came to know about few religions. Lately I no more respect all religions, I do disrespect a few.

In India(moderated) there used to be sane posts.... mainly social related and I came to know more about society and culture. That time I was not sure which culture I liked- western or Indian. Many months on orkut and I got to know many things about Indian and Western culture. At the end I know that I like western culture.

I participated in lot of theists v/s atheists debates. It just made me more stronger atheist. I also came to know that atheism is not being non-religious. Its is just disbelief in existence of God. I started calling myself a 'non-religious atheist'.

I said earlier that I am poor in reading and listening but in no time I developed the quality of reading things patiently. I learnt that everyone is different and has different views so its not my ?ing job to tell/ask others what to do and what not to do. One quality which I always had was to write things short and to the point and I must say, on orkut, it did improve a lot..... so did my typing speed and skills!

Lastly and most importantly, I faced a lot of questions on orkut which made me to think a lot. And after I got answers to those questions, I just found out a better way to live life. I became a lot more broad minded...... so much that someone commented that I am an example of height of being liberal. Well, I took it as a compliment.

As far as my sense of humour is concerned it has always been like that right from class 4 when I cracked a PJ on the cricket field. From that day, I have never looked back. Oh yeah, I am a narcissist:D Hope I didn't bore you and hey, another small and to the point blog!!!

Just happy with the way I am now, very good that I didn't turn into some fanatic :O
