The media lately has been blaming orkut for few murders and kidnaps... Some say orkut is a dangerous site, they say orkut can kill you... WOW!!! Excellent....... Mind blowing.
What is orkut? Orkut is a site where people can chat with others... just like facebook, myspace, Yahoo 360...... and 1000s of other similar social networking sites. So, other such sites don't kill? Why ONLY orkut kills?
It is said that the murderer met the victim on orkut and asked him/her to meet up at a place at a particular time... They met..... the offender did the job... the victim was fool enough to meet some unknown/untrusted person s/he met on the virtual world. And people blame orkut. Hell wait..... what about Yahoo chat rooms, MSN chat rooms, rediff chat rooms and 1000s of other chat rooms where people around the globe make friends and often they do meet up! Why orkut is the only one targeted?
Its simple, orkut is privacy killer. Anybody with an orkut account can see whom I have scrapped and who has scrapped me. If I have scrapped my number to a friend of mine then it is visible to all. If I tell my friend through orkut that I am going to meet you at ABC street on 15th September at 4.20 PM, then it is visible to all people(including 420 people). Think before you propose on orkut, it might be that some of your gfs sees the scrap and you lose about 5-6 gfs in a day!!!
Coming to the point, investigators can search for a person's orkut profile and going through the scraps can make out what s/he had been planning in the last few days. That is how they came to know about few murders and kidnaps in the recent past. Now, you blame orkut for this? Come on, you must thank orkut for being able to help you catch the miscreants!!! Had the conversation been taken place on Yahoo messenger or MSN then you would have never known that the victim planned to meet up virtual friends in real.
Its not that people on orkut only plan to meet up, meeting virtual friends in real life is very old concept, even before orkut thought of making a website! Blaming orkut alone for what happened is pathetic logic. If you blame otkut then you have to blame other 1000s of sites also through which virtual sweethearts try to be real sweethearts!
Personally, I keep no scraps and I don't scrap about any information which tells about my location or personal details. I also don't meet my virtual friends in real life, mainly coz I am ugly and don't want to lose my virtual friends also! Its better to share secret information at a secret place, use "send message" option. Some like to talk through testimonials, that is also a good idea.
All I wanted to say is: Hey media people think before you 'sell' the news.... have a look around the world before jumping to conclusions.... baseless conclusions.... so sad, here I am shouting(typing shouting) and the media is busy 'selling' news!!! bu hu hu........... :((
*Guess now the news is about how Sanjay/Salman is behaving at jail, what they are eating, what they are wearing, when their gf is going to come to see them, where did they piss, where they will crap and when they will marry, will they have sex in jail? and so on..... Hail the media!*
*I am no fan of orkut, in fact I dislike it to a lot of extent but not like the media who hate orkut for crappy reasons!*

My Crushes
A little late at night, college in about 7 and half hours from now and I am in mood to write and so I am writing a blog. Kinda romantic mood and the thought of writing a blog on my crushes just hit my mind. So, without wasting any time I decided to make another blog entry.
First of all, let me make it clear that I have 3 types of crushes.
1. Genuine crushes
2. Crushes on seniors
3. Crushes on celebrities
The list is obviously long.... more than 200 for sure!
1. Genuine crushes- In this type of crush I tend to look more into the inside quality than the outside. Those minds which are now thinking that by inside I meant private parts..... hold on!!! I may be a pervert but hey I have got some sense also.... however minute it may be.
By inside I meant the character the behaviour and everything that decides the personality of an individual. My 1st crush was in class 3/4. I don't remember the exact class I was in. In class 5 I had 2 crushes, 1 in class 6 and after I came to Kolkata..... in school, in tuitions.... everywhere.... I have lost count!!! My last genuine crush was way back in class 11. As of now, I have no crush in this category.
2. Crushes on seniors- This is something I love and enjoy telling to my friends..... all I look for is sex appeal. huh!!! Presently I have more than 15 in this category. Best being Black Beauty(my close college friends will know) but she has now left the college. She was in 4th year! Black Beauty
is her code as the 1st time I saw her, she was wearing a Black T-shirt and blue jeans..... she was looking simply stunning... Now that she is gone.... let me think who is my new best senior crush .... hmmmmm........ I think the canteen girl(Anupam might kill me for this!). I just love having crushes on seniors, their is no seriousness in these type of crushes and I never think of them except when in college, so it never wastes my time outside college. As far as wasting time in college is concerned, hey, we go to college to waste time, isn't it?
3. Celebrity on Crushes- Do I need to say anything? I am sure I don't.
Most of the teenagers have gone through this period and I need not say why this happens or how it is to have a celebrity crush. Any way, presently my biggest celebrity crush is Elisha Cuthbert followed by Daniela Hantchucova(she looked awesome this year in Wimbledon).
That raps it up, I hope it was not boring. Adding names might have added spices to the blog but it would have surely added lot of chillies in my life. Hell, I do love to get screwed so let me see..... who is my greatest real life genuine crush..... she is..... she is..... on second thoughts I think its better not to mess with girls..... see this if you don't believe me then watch this video!

The orkut journey - Part II
In this blog, I am going to talk on how my life has changed after spending a year on orkut. I am not the same person a I used to be over an year back. Good or bad? Lets find it out...
First of all let me tell you what type of person I was an year back. I was an atheist, an impatient person when it came to listening things, never could read anything that was long to me. Was never interested in religion. Never abusive, a medium sense of humour and blah blah....
On orkut, I have been active mainly in India community and the India (moderated) community. There are couple of other communities I have been active but it didn't bring any change to me so I am not mentioning them. In the very beginning I was active in India community. That time it was a nice place, with very few disturbances. The 1s month was full of fun, went on chatting and rarely taking part in serious topics.
After a month or so, religious fanatics came in, I started to hijack those threads, I was kinda peace loving person and couldn't see people bashing one another and abusing on the basis of religion. While doing this, I used to read some of the posts and I did came to know more about religion..... ahhhhh...... all the wrong interpretations of people..... my bad. Later I did look into authentic sources and came to know about few religions. Lately I no more respect all religions, I do disrespect a few.
In India(moderated) there used to be sane posts.... mainly social related and I came to know more about society and culture. That time I was not sure which culture I liked- western or Indian. Many months on orkut and I got to know many things about Indian and Western culture. At the end I know that I like western culture.
I participated in lot of theists v/s atheists debates. It just made me more stronger atheist. I also came to know that atheism is not being non-religious. Its is just disbelief in existence of God. I started calling myself a 'non-religious atheist'.
I said earlier that I am poor in reading and listening but in no time I developed the quality of reading things patiently. I learnt that everyone is different and has different views so its not my ?ing job to tell/ask others what to do and what not to do. One quality which I always had was to write things short and to the point and I must say, on orkut, it did improve a lot..... so did my typing speed and skills!
Lastly and most importantly, I faced a lot of questions on orkut which made me to think a lot. And after I got answers to those questions, I just found out a better way to live life. I became a lot more broad minded...... so much that someone commented that I am an example of height of being liberal. Well, I took it as a compliment.
As far as my sense of humour is concerned it has always been like that right from class 4 when I cracked a PJ on the cricket field. From that day, I have never looked back. Oh yeah, I am a narcissist:D Hope I didn't bore you and hey, another small and to the point blog!!!
Just happy with the way I am now, very good that I didn't turn into some fanatic :O
