I don't get it

Been following a few sitcoms of the west like The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men etc. I found one similarity in the sitcoms. Its fine to date, its fine to make love (or maybe have sex) and then if a guy says "I love you" the girl is shocked. I mean, aren't you making love all these months? Why else would you be meeting each other almost daily and making love if you are not in love?

Happened in Friends, when Chandler blabbed it out and Monica got surprised. In two and a half men, Charlie said it and got a "Thank You" in reply. In The Big Bang Theory, Penny dumped Lenord for that. What the hell is wrong up in the west, I don't get it.

Now, coming to How I Met Your Mother, what is good about that show except Robin and Barney? Lily is a selfish life control freak and irritating, Marshall is a punch bag with no personality and Ted, at the best sucks, no presence in the show despite being lead. Most of its theories are utter crap, seriously how many of you think people "read a magazine" at work? Add to it some people find it better than Friends, I really don't get it.

At least the characters in Friends were balanced and acted maturely. Ted acts like a kid, Marshall like a baby, Lily like a psycho. Robin and Barney, yeah they run the show.
